CSU Monterey Bay fell twice at Humboldt State for the second straight day in two different ways. The Otters rallied to tie the first game at 2-all before dropping 3-2 in extra innings. Then the second game the Lumberjacks put up nine straight runs to hand CSUMB a 10-2 run-rule defeat. The Otters are now 8-21, 3-15 CCAA while Humboldt State goes to 18-3, 9-1 league.
Down 2-0 with two outs in the seventh, Otter pitcher Jessica Boyle, playing first base on the day, blasted a two-run home run. It was Boyle's first home run of the year and the first score of the series for the Otters. The game went to extra innings where Humboldt's Megan Sutherland won the game with a copycat two-out home run in the bottom of the ninth. Ramona Garcia took the loss, going the distance while garnering a strikeout and scattering five hits.
The momentum kept on the Lumberjacks' side in the second game, where they expanded a 2-0 lead to 9-0 with a seven-run 3rd inning that included 2 home runs. The Otters were outhit 16-3 in the finale, getting both their scores in the fourth inning when Megan Russo and Kristin Rassmussen scored.
